Chasin’ the sunset

Chasin’ the Sunset is an exclusive bucket list cycling event for enthusiastic cyclists, and takes place in 2022. In three days, you and your teammate cycle from Kapellen (Belgium) to Saint-Leonard-de-Noblat (France) in three heavy stages of 300 kilometres each. This is the ultimate challenge: you push your boundaries and you only have one goal: finishing before sunset together every day. Do you beat the sun together? Then you successfully accomplished Chasin’ the Sunset!

Following the trail of Poulidor and Van der Poel

The route of the first edition of Chasin’ the Sunset is a tribute to cycling champions Raymond Poulidor and Mathieu, David and Adrie van der Poel. The finishing point Saint-Leonard-de-Noblat was the residence of the late Poulidor, who was one of the most popular French cyclists in history. The starting point Kapellen is the residence of his son-in-law Adrie van der Poel and the place of birth of his grandsons David and Mathieu van der Poel, all three of whom very successful professional cyclists.

Ultimate challenge

Participation in Chasin’ the Sunset is only reserved for the most enthusiastic cyclists. Each day, you and your teammate will cycle a 300-kilometre stage, for three days. A team may consist of two women, two men or a man and a woman. Motor-paced racing is prohibited. Teams start in turn, as is the case with a time trial, and must finish before sunset. A successful team is able to finish before sunset.

Chasin’ the Sunset is a true marathon session, but you will face it together. Perseverance, making sufficient training kilometres, and continuing to motivate each other: this is how you distinguish yourselves as the strongest team. Because only by working together as a team will you reach the finish in Saint-Leonard-de-Noblat!
